I Did it!

I finally got to Cappadocia! It is a truly breathtaking place, I cannot recommend it enough! It was great to travel across Turkiye, instead of staying in the one resort area. The towns we visited in the Cappadoccia area, were a mixture of ancient and modern. Some of the larger towns had chain store supermarkets and shops, others, no more than market stalls and occasional cafe's and trinket shops/stalls. I think my favourite part had to be at the balloons for the take off. It was surreal being somewhere as dawn breaks. The place was full of life as large colourful balloons were filled, rising into the air. I have never sat and watched the sunrise over a hill surrounded by ancient buildings, and it did not disappoint.

Side, where I stayed was different to the Turkiye I am used to, but none the less impressive. Walking through to the old town, you pass by an abundance of ancient ruins on each side of the road. Even when you enter the town, ruins are under walkways and between buildings. It's a vibrant, cosmopolitan place. Side is next to Manavgat, a large city (It has 3 McDonalds). It was a busy area with a turquoise river running through. We visited the market and ate in a restaurant by the river.

I visited Aspendos, a Greco Roman city, and Perge, a Lycian city. Perge was by far my favourite, it was great to wander through the ruins alone, although extremely hot!
